Carriage of this substance is permitted in tanks only.

The ECHA classifies the substance as corrosive (Skin Corr. 1B; H314) and environmentally hazardous (Aquatic Chronic 1; H410). However, an LD50 value of > 200 mg/kg is given for oral toxicity. The classification of BAM as additionally toxic is conservative. If the user has data that the substance is not toxic in the sense of the dangerous goods regulations they can classify the substance accordingly. In the safety data sheets of some manufacturers, the substance is classified only as corrosive (UN 3263 Corrosive solid, basic, organic, n.o.s.).

The substance was reclassified from packing group III to packing group II based on the data from the ECHA (see above).
